The starting point: money spent, diary still empty
Alisha Pharmacy is an independent community pharmacy in Chiswick, West London. Like many independents, the owner had already invested in a website and SEO with another provider, at considerable cost.
The problem was not visibility alone. Too few visitors turned into bookings. In April the pharmacy received just 8 bookings for its private services. Money was going into the website, and the return was not showing up in the appointment diary.
Sound familiar? Three things were wrong:
- Many of the pharmacy's services were hard to find on Google.
- Page copy described the services but gave no reason to click or book.
- Pages were not built around the one action that matters: booking an appointment.
The Alisha Pharmacy website, built by PharmaPresence.
What we did
Three changes. Each one built around getting the patient from Google to a booked appointment.
Made the services easier to find on Google
We rebuilt the site structure so each private service has its own page targeting what local patients actually search for. More of the pharmacy's services began appearing in search results.
Wrote copy that people want to click on
Titles and descriptions were rewritten to answer the patient's question, so more searchers chose Alisha Pharmacy over other results.
Optimised every page to get the booking
Each service page now leads to a clear, simple online booking flow, with trust signals from a pharmacist-led team and no unnecessary steps between interest and appointment.
One page per service, one clear action
Every private service has its own page, answering the patient's question and putting a single, obvious booking button where they are already looking. That is the difference between a brochure and a booking engine.
The results
Bookings excluding private flu and COVID, month by month.
| Measure | April (before) | Month 1 | Month 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bookings excluding private flu and COVID | 8 | 16 | 51 |
| Total bookings including private flu and COVID | – | 17 | 78 |
Breakdown by service
Weight loss was the biggest driver of value, growing from 1 booking in month 1 to 9 in month 2. Private flu added the most volume (25 bookings in month 2), but at a much lower value per booking.
| Service | Month 1 | Month 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Weight loss | 1 | 9 |
| Private flu | 1 | 25 |
| Men B | 3 | 1 |
| Private COVID | 0 | 2 |
| Travel vaccines | 0 | 4 |
| 24hr blood pressure monitor | 2 | 4 |
| Pharmacy First | 1 | 4 |
| NHS and emergency contraception | 3 | 4 |
| Ear piercing | 1 | 2 |
| MMR | 1 | 0 |
| Clinic blood pressure check | 1 | 1 |
| Other services with no tracking | 3 | 22 |
| Total | 17 | 78 |
Estimated revenue
£4,530
generated from tracked bookings across the first two months.
£950
Month 1
£3,584
Month 2
£2,025
Weight loss alone, month 2
The 25 bookings for other services with no tracking are not counted, so the real figure is likely higher.
Estimate based on the prices listed on the Alisha Pharmacy website where available, and standard NHS fees and market prices elsewhere.
What this means for your pharmacy
A pharmacy website built properly is the most reliable way to fill appointment slots for private services. Alisha Pharmacy went from 8 bookings with their old website and extra SEO work to 51 core bookings without any extra SEO in two months, and 78 in total, because the site was built to be found, to be clicked, and to convert.
We estimate that the website investment already paid for itself by the start of the second month.
Built to be found
A dedicated page for every service patients search for.
Built to be clicked
Titles and descriptions that answer the patient's question.
Built to convert
A simple online booking flow with no unnecessary steps.
